Inspection Test Plan – Gypsum Dry Wall Construction

Gypsum Dry Wall is a lightweight partition system used to create interior walls and ceilings. It is made by fixing gypsum boards onto a metal frame made of studs and tracks. The system is quick to install, clean to work with, and provides a smooth surface that can be painted or finished easily.

Dry walls are commonly used because they save time, reduce construction weight, and allow electrical and plumbing services to be run inside the wall without cutting or chasing. Additional layers of boards can be added if better sound insulation or fire resistance is required. Overall, gypsum drywall is a practical and efficient alternative to traditional brick walls for modern buildings, offering good quality, flexibility, and a neat finish.

This ITP ensures that every stage of the drywall installation—beginning from material procurement and storage, through framing, board installation, jointing, finishing, and final inspection—is executed in full compliance with the project specifications, approved drawings, manufacturer recommendations, and relevant industry standards.

WHAT IS AN INSPECTION AND TEST PLAN (ITP)

Inspection and Test Plans and checklists are integral parts of quality management systems — not only in construction but in almost every industry where Quality Management Systems (QMS) are implemented.

They are considered master documents that monitor and record the various parameters and activities of a process. These records later play a vital role during verification and auditing.

In construction, where numerous trades and activities must be completed — such as structural, finishes, façade, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing works — preparation and implementation of different ITPs form a crucial part of the project quality management system.
